This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs certified in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.
Upon completion of this course, students receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Certification that is valid for two years.
During the course, an AHA Instructor conducts video-based lessons and works with students to complete their CPR and AED skills practice and testing.
Do I need to purchase a textbook?
American Heart Association states "each student must have the current appropriate course textbook readily available for use before, during, and after the course." The textbook is not included in the class price and the student is responsible for purchasing or gaining access. Students may reuse their textbooks during renewals or updates until new science guidelines are published.
How do I purchase a course textbook?
If you need to purchase a book, students can purchase when registering for the class, purchase separately through SMRT Indiana's online store or purchase from another vendor.

We have a couple of solutions for you. You can take the classroom portion online and complete a skills checkoff at our location in Plainfield, IN.
Can I take this course if I am a healthcare professional student?
No, all healthcare providers are required to take the BLS for healthcare providers CPR course.
Does taking this course meet my requirements for my teaching license?
Yes, this course contains all of the CPR objectives required by the state of Indiana to apply for your teaching license.

How long does the class last?
On average this course lasts between 2-3 hours. This is not a guarantee as it may take longer depending on the needs of the participants.
How long does this certification last?
All American Heart Association Courses are 2-year certifications.
Do I have to take a written exam?
You are not required to take a written examination. Once you have successfully completed your skills check off you will receive your certification.
